“I just can’t check logical....

thinking at the door.” was how my son summed up his almost two hour meeting yesterday with Scott, who leads the college ministry at Harvest.

During his recent downward spiral, he agreed to speak with someone at Harvest and in reaching out to my church, Scott responded.

I furthered the discussion with him by asking...

“If you chose to obey God’s word and at the end of it all you have lived a good, loving, productive life and it turns out that God is not real...how horrible could that possibly be?”

His response...“I would feel duped!”

In a “played-out-in-my-mind-already” perfect scenario, he would have felt the hand of God on him yesterday and made the decision to walk in His light.

But that is not where he is at.

Yet.

In remembering what I have control over and what I do not, I will just pray that Scott planted a seed during their discussion and there will come a day...

when he chooses to walk His way!

that is all i can do or say

Thanks gals for the encouraging comments.

Sarah I have also been told to have him read it by Scott from Harvest. I believe it was written by Lee Strobel, an investigating journalist for the Chicago Sun Times.

I will be picking it up and leaving it in my son's room.

Julie - I definitely am squeaking loudly up to the Lord.

anything less he cannot afford

ps - paige sending a hug to you!

Hey Susan - You know where I stand on religion, somewhere between pagan and agnostic. This may or may not be helpful but I'm gonna say it: The more you try to influence his beliefs, the more he will hold tightly to his 'logic'. The very best thing you can do (and I know you're good at this already, it's one of the things I love most about you) is embody the spirit of Christ by giving him nothing but unconditional love. Whether he eventually comes to know Christ is up to him - but how he views Christ is totally up to you (and all Christians). Love you.

Hedy -

Thank you. I recognize that it is his walk and all I can do is pray, love and not enable.

Love you.

too

Susan, if I were there I'd give you a big hug. You are a good mother, and God is looking over your son. Remember James 5:16 "The prayer of a righteous man avails much..."
