Believing or not (I am so praying for him), it also encompasses traditions, family, friends and the extra opportunity to make sure that “Thanks for being in my life!” is known by those who need to know it.
And presents don’t have to be about spending money (at least not big money), they could be kind, loving words (FREE!), unselfish actions (again free!), cards, token presents or gifts of time.
After his comment, I am considering calling his bluff and instructing all to give him nothing...
no gift cards;
no cash in envelopes;
no Christmas greetings...
Zilch.
It might be a good lesson for him to experience at this stage of his life.
