A phrase I took from a friend who recently replied to my question “Are you dating anyone?”
“No, I am Super Single!”
I too am "SUPER SINGLE" and wanted to post the positives of being just that. . .
Here is the first:
I can watch WHENEVER, WHATEVER I want on tv. . .

“Thanks, it’s my Mom!”
How fitting...on my 54th birthday, to acknowledge the woman, who at the tender age of 20...loving, internally cared for me; bore the pain of my birth and welcomed me into the bright light of the world on Wednesday, August 27, 1958.
The woman who would have made a fabulous farmer’s wife, with her love of animals, the outdoors, and her southern heritage-driven gift of cooking and baking; whom instead married a garbage collector, settled into suburban Chicago and raised (let’s face it – still raising) eight children.
Momma, I stand in honor with love, pride & thanks and salute thee.

Slip Sliding & Falling My Lunch Walk Away!
Yes, it is raining.
Yes, I am wearing my toe shoes.
Yes, I walk up Madison to the Bean and back most every weekday.
Yes, I always cross State Street.
No, I have never fallen on this walk. . .
until today.
Several times a year a "coating" of some type is applied to the sidewalk on State Street. Not sure what the coating is (I am currently on the phone with the City to find out), but I am sure of this. . .
when it gets wet it is slippery beyond measure.
One step onto State Street and my left foot flew out from under me.
There was no graceful catching myself recovery.
I went down.
Hard.
Left arm.
Left shoulder.
Left hip.
The new Snippet's camera fortunately in my right hand and seemingly unscathed.
My shoulder, neck, arm, hip - sore already.
The City's 311 operator just confirmed thru the Department of Transportation (whom I cannot speak to directly) that they do "put something" on the sidewalks but they would not discuss what that was. She told me that the only thing I can do is file a police report.
Frustrated...yes.
That I wasn't hurt too badly I am blessed.

Susan Snippet's Suggests. . .
just saying that if some new music is in your future - get Lionel Richie's Tuskegee CD. . .
you will not be disappointed.
Lionel's voice is as good as it ever was and he duets with fabulous country singers such as Darius Rucker (my fav!), Jennifer Nettles (yeah!), Jason Aldean (WOW!), Kenny Chesney and the list goes on.
That is it - just enjoy!!
Oh boy!

A repeat...
At 4:27 a.m. 24 years ago today I gave birth to this...

but back then he was only 9 lbs. 10 1/2 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long.
He has grown to be a 6 foot plus, handsome, bright, artistically talented, witty man with a penchant for costumes that I don't quite always understand.
Well maybe on some level I do...

Phillip happy 24th birthday to you, it was so nice to hang out together on Saturday in Milwaukee...

p.s. - Stop by phillip's photography site and comment at the bottom of any of his photos to wish him birthday cheer...
or just send him money for beer!

A Strong Finish!

I had NO SPENDING success...
with the help of a couple of peeps (dinner bought for me) I confess!!
But from last Tuesday thru Sunday night. . .
money (not even a penny) left my bank account’s sight.
I even found a quarter on Tuesday in the parking lot. . .
so actually MORE money I have now got.
I organized kitchen cabinets and donated some food. . .
cleaned my office for a change into something frilly not for a dude!
Purged and filled up an entire garbage can with things I do not need. . .
after watching that Hoarders’ show and to heart taking heed!
The lesson was that I CAN do it and also how productive I CAN be…
when I spend most of my "free" time at home just Buddy Boy and me!!

A 2012 Challenge...
I have compiled a list today of what I am going to strive towards during this new year.Of the several things I have listed, I will share one and challenge you to try it too!
Next Tuesday thru Sunday - January 3rd thru the 8th - outside of putting gas into my car and paying household bills. . .
I will NOT BE SPENDING ANY MONEY.
NO purchased coffees/iced teas.
NO meals eaten out.
NO SPENDING ANY MONEY.
Praying that puts me in the right frame of mind as this new year begins so that several of my "issues" I will defeat!
That same challege are you willing to meet?

Ducks in a Pond...
of ducks I am not too fond!
Unless we are talking about Chelveston from back in the day...
on a program hosted by a guy named Ray.

Whole heads of lettuce Chelveston would eat...
and cartoons were shown that still are pretty neat!
Clutch Cargo...

The Funny Company...

and Diver Dan...

to name a few.
I remember them...how about you?

5 Gs is the current study at church...

I thought “how appropriate” as I was completing part of the study this morning on the train.
All of those words are important, but today, especially,
GRATEFUL jumped off the page.
I am so very GRATEFUL on this 10 year anniversary of my diagnosis. . .
for an awesome God who still has me here for a reason,
for an incredible family,
and got-down-in-the-trenches friends,
who gathered forces and took care of my children’s and my needs to an extent that to this day brings me to tears.
I am so very Grateful...
I am so very Thankful...
and I so LOVE you all...
without stall!

Sunday Morning Blessing...
I had seated them. First, the older man, whom I recognized from past services, he always likes to sit in one of the last rows on my side. Next was a small man, with-oversized-for-his-face glasses and greasy, unkempt hair, and then, just as the service was starting, a woman walked in and joined them.
When it was time for collecting of the offering, the bag passed down their row; I then turned it in to the head usher and was on the way to my seat when I saw the woman waving at me. I walked over and she handed me, as their offering this. . .

thru tears I thanked her, went back to the head usher and placed the pennies in the bag.
Unashamedly she called me back to give. . .
three cents.
How divinely immense!

This beautiful Chicago Week in Pics…
I did click click clicks!!
At the Daley Plaza – a loner. . .

and in the West Loop – a stoner. . .

A Chicago Marathon runner. . .

And a sidewalk corner two ton-ner. . .
(I LOVE that he is underneath a pasted up poster for a MEDITATE event - maybe he is part of their marketing team!!)
I walked to Michigan Ave. to see Marilyn (again) so large. . .

Cleaning of that shoe I am happy I am not in charge. . .

Chicago’s finest mounted on their horses. . .

and the Blackhawks’ began their season with special forces. .

A camera that would make my snippet heart smile...

and if I ate all of these my pants would split after a while...

My new favorite Loop place to eat...

I hope his owner for this pose gave this "cute" dog a treat...

The colors of the trees contrasted well with the NBC logo...

and outside to lunch many people did go go...

There that is it!!
I am done with my posting pic fit!
